Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar discussed ways of enhancing bilateral relations and the latest regional and international developments of mutual concern.

During the call, held late on Saturday, Abdelatty commended the significant progress made in bilateral ties in recent years, reaffirming Egypt’s commitment to advancing the strategic partnership launched in 2023 in a manner that serves the interests of the two friendly peoples.

He also welcomed the outcome of the first round of the Strategic Dialogue between the two countries’ foreign ministers, held in New Delhi in October 2025.

Abdelatty stressed the importance of building on the dialogue’s outcomes and maintaining the positive momentum in bilateral ties by intensifying high-level visits and ensuring the regular convening of bilateral consultation mechanisms.

The Egyptian chief diplomat underscored his country’s interest in expanding co-operation with India in trade, investment and the economy, with a view to increasing bilateral trade to $12 billion over the next five years.

The two ministers also exchanged views on regional developments and the future of regional security arrangements amid the rapidly evolving situation in the region.

They stressed the need to intensify diplomatic efforts and support political solutions aimed at de-escalation. Abdelatty, in particular, emphasised the importance of avoiding military escalation, prioritising diplomatic channels and ensuring freedom of navigation.
