The Somali government has announced that Somali Airlines is expected to resume operations next September, returning to service after a 35-year suspension that began when civil war broke out in the country in 1991.
Mogadishu Airport currently serves several major airlines, including Ethiopian Airlines, Qatar Airways and Turkish Airlines.
The resumption of operations is part of efforts to revive the national carrier. Somalia recently received two Airbus A320 aircraft to support the airline’s return to service.
