As part of the state’s efforts to build a well-rounded generation and strengthen national values and identity, the Education Development Fund (EDF), affiliated with the Cabinet, has launched “My Roots Reach Tomorrow”, a project aimed at studying rapid social changes and their impact on children.

According to a statement released by the EDF on Monday, The project seeks to develop practical approaches that can help shape well-rounded Egyptian personalities, combining pride in their identity and roots with the ability to navigate the demands of the future.

The initiative comes amid rapid global developments, the widespread use of social media and growing media and cultural openness, highlighting the need to monitor how these changes affect Egyptian society, particularly children, and their impact on values and behaviour.

EDF Secretary-General Rasha Saad Sherif said the project aims to strike a balance between preserving Egyptian identity and acquiring future skills, including critical thinking.

She said shaping a child’s personality is no longer limited to knowledge and information, but also involves understanding surrounding changes and responding to them consciously while remaining connected to the values and identity of society.

Sherif added that the project represents an integrated development model designed to support younger generations and prepare them to deal with rapid transformations.

The project’s implementation will involve listening to families, teachers, specialists and others involved in children’s upbringing and educational, cultural, psychological and social development.

The fund has launched a survey to identify the main challenges facing children’s values among those aged 7 to 12. Parents, teachers, school psychologists and social workers, as well as those involved in children’s literature, are invited to share their views and suggestions.

A separate survey has also been dedicated to parents to gain a closer understanding of the changes and challenges facing their children.
