Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli reaffirmed on Thursday Egypt’s commitment to strengthening co-operation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in fields of education and culture, as national priorities in line with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to achieve comprehensive development.

Madbouli made the remarks during a meeting with Director-General of UNESCO Khaled El-Enany at the Government Headquarters in New Alamein City.

As the meeting started, Madbouli congratulated El-Enany on assuming his new position, saying his appointment reflects the international community’s confidence in Egyptian expertise and its ability to strengthen UNESCO’s role in safeguarding cultural and human heritage and enhancing the quality of education.

For his part, the UNESCO chief expressed appreciation for the confidence and support of the Egyptian state, noting that his experience in public service had equipped him to lead the Organisation’s diverse portfolio.

El-Enany praised Egypt’s role as an active partner in advancing UNESCO’s agenda in education, culture and science, highlighting new opportunities to expand cooperation in technical education, teacher training, capacity building, digital media and artificial intelligence.

He also pointed to promising prospects for joint initiatives across Africa in coordination with Egypt, including transferring the experience of constructing the Grand Egyptian Museum to African countries to help preserve the continent’s cultural heritage, alongside initiatives to revive traditional crafts and strengthen technical education to develop skilled human resources.
