Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli chaired on Tuesday a meeting in New Alamein to discuss proposals for the national programme to discover and nurture talented individuals, in line with directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The initiative aims to build generations capable of competing and excelling across diverse fields, from science and medicine to arts and sports.

The prime minister emphasised Egypt’s “soft power” as a national asset that must be supported, pledging full financial backing for programmes that identify and develop talent. He cited examples such as the “State of Recitation” initiative, which uncovered outstanding voices, as proof of the country’s potential to cultivate excellence in multiple domains.

Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk highlighted the importance of investing in talent discovery and training, noting that incentives for institutions to sponsor gifted individuals are under study. Social Solidarity Minister Maya Morsy pointed to the “Ana Mawhoub” initiative, which has identified 1,050 children with literary and artistic talents, with 550 shortlisted for further development.

Education Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif stressed that nurturing talent is as vital as discovering it, calling for structured incubators to support gifted students. Higher Education Minister Abdel Aziz Konsowa linked talent development to Egypt’s knowledge economy goals, outlining initiatives to connect universities with industry and foster innovation.

Youth and Sports Minister Gouhar Nabil presented a framework to transform provincial competitive advantages into opportunities for young people, including sports talent programmes and entrepreneurship schemes. He also announced initiatives such as “Students of Egypt Create Future Solutions”, a national competition encouraging schoolchildren to devise practical responses to sustainability challenges.

Communications Minister Raafat Hindi noted that ICT initiatives are already contributing to talent discovery, but stressed the need for integrated support systems.

Madbouli concluded by directing the formation of a ministerial working group to design clear executive programmes, backed by financing mechanisms, to ensure the discovery and nurturing of talent across Egypt.
