Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdel-Aati, discussed in a phone call late on Friday with US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff the latest regional developments and ongoing efforts to promote stability in the region.

The call formed part of the continuous consultation and coordination between Egypt and the United States on developments across the region amid the current military escalation, said the Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khallaf.

Ambassador Khallaf noted that Minister Abdel-Aati reaffirmed Cairo’s support for all initiatives aimed at resolving the crisis through dialogue and diplomatic engagement.

The minister also welcomed the progress achieved through the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, expressing hope that its implementation would contribute to easing tensions and strengthening regional security and stability.

Abdel-Aati stressed the importance of maintaining the diplomatic track and building on recent developments to prevent further escalation and create favourable conditions for a comprehensive and peaceful resolution of regional challenges.

For his part, Witkoff praised Egypt’s constructive role in supporting regional stability and commended its continued efforts, in coordination with relevant parties, to encourage dialogue and bridge differences.

The two sides agreed to maintain close consultation and coordination during the coming period in support of efforts to preserve regional peace, security and stability.
