Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said Egypt is undergoing an unprecedented transformation in the agriculture sector as the government accelerates efforts to expand crop and livestock production, strengthen food security and increase agricultural exports.

Speaking during a tour of agricultural and livestock production projects in Giza and Beheira governorates on Wednesday, Madbouli said the government has made food security and rural development strategic priorities under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s leadership.

He added that the state is also intensifying efforts to develop the livestock sector to secure citizens’ needs for meat and dairy products, narrow the gap between domestic production and consumption, stabilize local markets and reduce reliance on imports.

Madbouli was accompanied by Agriculture Minister Alaa Farouk and senior officials overseeing agricultural and livestock projects.

Minister Farouk said the government is implementing an integrated strategy to maximize the productivity of livestock farms through upgrading existing facilities and establishing modern production stations using advanced breeding, production and genetic improvement techniques.

He added that the strategy also focuses on improving livestock breeds, increasing farm efficiency, encouraging private-sector and civil society participation, and upgrading milk collection centers to build a sustainable livestock production system capable of meeting domestic demand while supporting the national economy.

During the tour, Madbouli visited Al Ammar Livestock Development Farm on the Regional Ring Road, where owner Magdy Abdel Azim said the facility has a production capacity of 15,000 genetically improved local fattening calves distributed across Egypt, from Aswan to Alexandria.

He explained that the operation is integrated with another farm in the European Countryside area, which houses 600 cattle dedicated to genetic improvement before they are transferred to Al Ammar’s main farm for fattening and nationwide distribution.

Abdel Azim said the company combines modern production technologies with veterinary expertise to deliver high-quality livestock products while maintaining strict biosecurity measures and comprehensive vaccination programs supervised by specialized veterinary teams.

Concluding the visit, Madbouly described Al Ammar Farm as a successful model of private-sector investment that contributes to meeting local demand and enhancing food security.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to providing logistical support, removing obstacles facing major producers and improving connectivity through the national road network to facilitate domestic trade.
