Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli held a meeting to follow up on President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives regarding the development of Egypt’s media sector. The session was attended by State Minister for Information Diaa Rashwan, Supreme Council for Media Regulation Chairman Khaled Abdelaziz, National Press Authority Chairman Abdel Sadeq Al-Shorbagy, and National Media Authority Chairman Ahmed El-Meselamani.

Madbouli emphasized that the government’s work until the December Media Conference will focus on translating the recommendations of the Media Development Committee into an actionable plan. He highlighted the importance of fostering professional and responsible media dialogue that reflects diverse perspectives while upholding national values, thereby strengthening public awareness and supporting the role of media in serving national interests.

Rashwan presented the proposed themes for the December conference, including financial sustainability of media institutions, access to information, responsible free media, professional standards, and coverage of national issues such as the economy, foreign policy, security, sports, and social matters. Abdelaziz and Al-Shorbagy underscored the state’s commitment to modernizing the sector, while El-Meselamani outlined ongoing reforms at the National Media Authority, including digital transformation, debt settlement, and enhancing digital platforms under the “Digital First” strategy.

Madbouli concluded by stressing that the priority until December is to turn the committee’s recommendations into a clear executive plan, ensuring the conference produces tangible outcomes that advance Egypt’s media landscape.
