Egypt has concluded the second International Training Course on the Protection of Civilians in United Nations Missions and International Migration Law, reaffirming its growing role as a regional and international centre of excellence for peacekeeping training and capacity-building.

Organised by the Military Intelligence Liaison with International Organisations Agency in co-operation with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and supported by the European Union, the course reflects Egypt’s continued commitment to boosting international peace and security and enhancing the capabilities of personnel deployed to United Nations peace operations.

The programme attracted broad international participation, bringing together 31 representatives from the ministries of defence, interior and foreign affairs of friendly countries, alongside officials from UN missions and international organisations. It also featured a distinguished group of experts and instructors from specialised training institutions worldwide and the United Nations Secretariat.

Designed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills required for modern peacekeeping operations, the course delivered a comprehensive curriculum covering the protection of civilians in conflict settings and international migration law.

The programme combined specialised lectures, interactive discussions, practical exercises and field simulation scenarios conducted in co-operation with the Egyptian Paratroopers Command, enabling participants to strengthen their analytical, planning and decision-making capabilities in complex operational environments.

The initiative was held within the framework of directives issued by Egypt’s political leadership and the Armed Forces’ ongoing efforts to reinforce the country’s leadership in supporting UN peace operations through training, professional development and institutional capacity-building.

The course also forms part of broader efforts by the Egyptian Armed Forces and the Military Intelligence Liaison with International Organisations Agency to expand co-operation with international organisations, specialised institutions and leading training centres around the world, further consolidating Egypt’s position as a regional and global hub for excellence in peacekeeping training.

At the conclusion of the programme, participants and international experts praised the Military Intelligence Liaison with International Organisations Agency for the high standard of organisation, the quality of the academic and practical curriculum, and the professionalism of the training. They also commended Egypt and its Armed Forces for their leading contribution to United Nations peacekeeping efforts and their continued support for building international capacities to promote global peace and security.
