The National Air Navigation Services Company has signed a major co-operation agreement with DFS Aviation Services, a leading global provider of air navigation services, to transfer technical expertise and implement the latest practices in air traffic management.

This partnership is designed to improve daily operational efficiency, enhance safety and flight flow rates, and support the overall competitiveness of the Egyptian civil aviation sector.

Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh el-Hefny affirmed that developing the air navigation system is a top priority in the ministry’s work plans because of its pivotal role in making Egyptian airspace more efficiently and supporting the sustainable growth of the air transport sector.

He pointed to the importance of expanding co-operation with major international institutions to benefit from their advanced expertise, implement the latest operational systems, and train national personnel according to the best international practices. Ultimately, this will enhance the sector’s readiness to keep pace with rapid changes in the global aviation industry and solidify Egypt’s position as a leading regional air transport hub.

The agreement was officially signed on behalf of Egypt by Captain Ehab Mohi El-Din Azmy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Air Navigation Services Company, and on behalf of Germany by Andreas Butschek, Managing Director of DFS Aviation Services.

Under the terms of this agreement, specialised training and qualification programmes will be implemented for Egyptian air traffic controllers.

These programmes will include developing standard identification procedures for arrivals and departures, providing training on digital communication systems between controllers and pilots, and sharing best practices in designing navigation procedures.
