Primary healthcare centres and units affiliated with the General Authority for Healthcare (GAH) in Port Said Governorate have provided more than 14 million services to beneficiaries of the Universal Health Insurance (UHI) system since its launch.

Announcing the milestone on Saturday, GAH Chairman Dr Ahmed el-Sobky stated that the achievement underscores the efficiency of the healthcare system and the success of state efforts to deliver high-quality, integrated medical services in line with international standards.

The medical services provided across the governorate include over 6.6 million family medicine and emergency services, roughly 3.2 million laboratory services, about 1.8 million dental treatments, and a total of 1.7 million comprehensive medical examinations.

Moreover, around 600,000 specialised clinic examinations and 150,000 radiology services were provided.

El-Sobky noted that these figures, alongside a broad range of preventive and treatments, demonstrate the seamless integration of the various treatment pathways available to patients.

“The primary healthcare network in Port Said currently comprises 35 healthcare centres and units, all of which operate through fully automated systems and have undergone complete digital transformation,” Sobky said.

El-Sobky stressed that primary healthcare facilities constitute the first line of defence within the UHI system.

They play a key role in disease prevention, early diagnosis, and the continuous monitoring of patients close to their homes.

These ongoing efforts, he concluded, support Egypt’s long-term objective of achieving universal health coverage and providing sustainable healthcare services for all citizens in line with the highest international standards.
