President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met on Sunday with Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Admiral Osama Rabie, and Chairman of the South Red Sea Shipyard Company (SRSS) Moustafa El-Dougishy.

President Sisi was briefed on the navigation traffic through the Suez Canal during the FY 2025/2026, as well as the progress rates and timetable for launching new marine units over the coming period, Presidency Spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawysaid.

The president emphasised the necessity of carrying on with efforts to localise the marine unit manufacturing industry to meet national needs within the Canal and Egyptian ports, support the inland water transport sector, and expand into export markets in partnership with the private sector, El-Shennawyadded.

President Sisi also directed that the highest quality standards be maintained, the established project timelines be respected, and occupational safety and health requirements be fully implemented, while ensuring the continuous training of technical personnel.

In addition, Sisi followed up the latest developments pertaining to the equipment of two fiberglass factories at the Suez Canal Company for Modern Boats, a partnership between the Suez Canal Authority and the South Red Sea Shipyard Company.

The president was briefed on the construction of several fiberglass boats, including the completion of the hulls for three cruise launches designed to serve maritime and Nile tourism, Spokesman El-Shennawy noted.

The meeting also featured a review of the implementation status of a project to build a series of twelve deep-sea fishing vessels of the “REZK” class, using the latest global technologies, as well as an update on the manufacturing of a 60-passenger river bus to operate in the Cairo Governorate.

Moreover, President Sisi followed up the work progress in the construction of the 90-ton bollard pull “Azm” class marine tugboats, stressing the vital importance of complying with all quality and safety standards, El-Shennawy said.
