Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli has directed the nationwide expansion of the “Art Street” initiative, describing it as an important platform for showcasing talent and bringing cultural activities closer to citizens across Egypt.

During a meeting with Minister of Culture Jehan Zaki on Thursday, Madbouli reaffirmed the government’s support for efforts to strengthen Egypt’s cultural identity, protect national values and improve access to cultural services in all governorates.

The prime minister said the initiative helps highlight artistic talent from different parts of the country while creating vibrant public spaces and promoting creativity in various fields of art.

Zaki, for her part, presented a report on the ministry’s performance, outlining measures to improve administrative efficiency, modernize cultural institutions and expand cultural services, particularly through the development of cultural centers nationwide.

She also reviewed the ministry’s digital transformation efforts, including the preservation of manuscripts and archives through modern technologies, the expansion of digital cultural platforms and a joint initiative with the Ministry of Communications to promote Egyptian cultural content online.

The minister highlighted efforts to achieve greater cultural inclusion through visits to remote and border governorates, as well as support for music, theatre, cinema and cultural festivals.

She noted that the ministry’s “Culture is Life” initiative has significantly expanded public cultural activities, including more than 4,500 events during the month of Ramadan, live performances in metro stations and the initial rollout of the “Art Street” programme in five governorates.
