Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, held a meeting on Thursday with representatives of DIAGAST, a global company specialising in blood typing reagents, and Think Pro for Medical Services, to discuss prospects for future co-operation and the transfer of advanced blood typing technologies to Egypt.

This, a ministry statement said, aims at strengthening local manufacturing capabilities in the medical diagnostics sector. It added that Dr Abdel-Ghaffar affirmed the political leadership’s commitment to localising biomedical industries, particularly in the field of blood transfusion services, as part of broader efforts to achieve self-sufficiency and reinforce national health security.

He further emphasised that such partnerships are aligned with Egypt’s strategic vision to expand domestic production of critical medical supplies and reduce dependence on imports.

Discussions focused on establishing a strategic partnership to develop local production lines based on DIAGAST’s advanced technologies, in collaboration with Think Pro for Medical Services, to manufacture high-precision and sustainable blood typing reagents in Egypt.

The meeting also explored mechanisms for technology transfer and capacity building to ensure effective implementation of the proposed cooperation.

In this respect, Minister Abdel-Ghaffar directed the preparation of a comprehensive executive action plan encompassing technology transfer, training programmes and the development of Egyptian medical and technical cadres in the latest blood typing systems and applications.

He further noted that the collaboration would contribute to enhancing the efficiency, safety and reliability of blood transfusion services across the country, while supporting Egypt’s ambition to become a regional hub for the production and export of medical and diagnostic supplies to African and Middle Eastern markets.
