As part of his visit to France, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Abdelaziz Qonsowa continued efforts to strengthen scientific cooperation and innovation partnerships with leading French institutions.
The minister visited on Wednesday the Paris-Saclay Innovation Ecosystem, one of the world’s leading models for connecting universities with industry and transforming research into economic value.
Qonsowa said Egypt is implementing a comprehensive strategy to develop higher education, scientific research and innovation.
The strategy aims to enhance the global competitiveness of Egyptian universities, support the knowledge-based economy and increase the contribution of science and technology to sustainable development.
He stressed the need to move beyond the traditional teaching university model toward institutions that generate knowledge and technology and build effective partnerships with industry.
Such cooperation, he said, can maximize the economic and social returns of investment in research and innovation.
The Egyptian delegation reviewed Paris-Saclay’s integrated model, which brings together universities, research centers, multinational companies and startups within a single ecosystem. The model helps accelerate innovation and convert research outcomes into commercial and industrial applications.
Qonsowa said Egypt has strong foundations to establish similar innovation ecosystems within its universities, supported by major investments in higher education infrastructure, new universities and specialized research centers.
