Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli witnessed the launch of Egypt’s Foreign Trade Information Portal, a new platform designed to provide comprehensive trade data and support the country’s efforts to expand exports and diversify international markets.
Speaking during the launch event on Tuesday, Osama El-Gohary, Assistant to the Prime Minister and Chairman of the Information and Decision Support Centre (IDSC), said Egypt is among a select group of around 30 countries worldwide to establish a dedicated foreign trade information platform.
The portal provides detailed data and insights related to foreign trade, offering users access to information on global demand trends, high-potential export products, target markets, and trade flows, including import and export volumes.
El-Gohary noted that nearly 50% of Egypt’s exports are concentrated in just 10 countries despite the expansion of the country’s network of international trade agreements. He said the new platform would help maximise opportunities in additional markets and support efforts to diversify export destinations.
Describing the initiative as the largest trade data repository in the region, El-Gohary said the portal offers an integrated information infrastructure that can help businesses, exporters and policymakers make more informed decisions and identify new growth opportunities in global markets.
The platform is expected to strengthen Egypt’s export competitiveness by providing timely, data-driven insights that support trade expansion and economic development.
