Egypt is pursuing a comprehensive vision to build a secure digital environment, integrating policy development, technical readiness, human capital, and innovation. Speaking at the opening session of the fifth Cybersecurity and Information Security Conference and Exhibition (CAISEC 2026), Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hindi highlighted the country’s ongoing implementation of the second National Cybersecurity Strategy (2023–2027), while preparations are underway for a third edition to address emerging global challenges.
The minister stressed that cybersecurity is central to safeguarding national interests and ensuring digital sovereignty. He noted that data centers have become vital arteries of the digital economy, supporting cloud services and artificial intelligence applications. Egypt, he said, is strengthening its position as a regional hub for data and digital services by expanding infrastructure and encouraging investment in cloud and computing facilities.
Hindi announced the accreditation of 45 local companies as cybersecurity service providers, underscoring the state’s commitment to developing the domestic market and enhancing trust in digital services. He also emphasized the role of human capital, citing initiatives such as “Digital Generations,” “Digital Pioneers,” and the Cybersecurity Academy for Youth, alongside awareness platforms like Waai.net.
The conference, held under the patronage of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and supported by 10 ministries, brings together over 180 speakers and 5,000 participants from 22 countries. Discussions focus on the future of cybersecurity, digital sovereignty, and the opportunities and challenges posed by emerging technologies including artificial intelligence and quantum computing.
