Egypt is committed to deepening its strategic alliance and expanding economic partnerships with the United States, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Issa has announced.
Speaking on behalf of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Mr Issa lauded the robust, decades-long relationship between Cairo and Washington, describing it as a strategic partnership built on mutual respect and shared interests.
The address was delivered on Thursday at a US Embassy event held at the historic American University in Cairo campus to mark the US Semiquincentennial, celebrating 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Conveying the Egyptian government’s greetings to the US leadership, Issa noted that bilateral relations have witnessed significant growth recently, particularly in trade, investment, and economic co-operation.
He detailed Egypt’s ongoing comprehensive economic reform programme, which aims to improve the domestic business climate, boost competitiveness, and firmly establish the private sector as a primary engine of national growth. These reforms, he emphasised, offer lucrative avenues for American businesses.
“Egypt looks forward to increasing the volume of direct US investments, boosting trade exchange, and exploring new co-operation opportunities in priority sectors,” Issa said, adding that such steps would drive innovation, facilitate technology transfer, and create jobs.

‘The future is very bright’

The celebration, attended by senior officials, diplomats, and prominent public figures, focused on the theme of success stories shaped by both cultures.
In an interview with The Egyptian Gazette, US Chargé d’Affaires Robert Silverman struck an
optimistic tone regarding the trajectory of bilateral relations, stating simply: “The future is very bright.”
To mark the historic milestone, Silverman announced a year-long programme of cultural events and seminars supported by private-sector partners.
The activities will span multiple Egyptian cities, showcasing the deep people-to-people ties and shared values that have developed between the two nations over generations.
