Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto underlined the depth of co-operation ties binding the two countries.

That came at the end of session of talks, held at the Foreign Ministry’s premises on Wednesday.

Shoukry thanked Szijjarto for the role he plays to promote the EU’s relations with Egypt and to brief European countries on the latest developments in the region and challenges facing Egypt, in addition to the need to foster Egyptian-European ties.

Shoukry added the talks focused on boosting bilateral ties, with special focus on the economic domain and regional issues.

The Hungarian minister is currently visiting Egypt, accompanied by a delegation of Hungarian businessmen to hold Egyptian-Hungarian Business Forum, which would contribute to exploring more cooperation vistas, along with luring Hungarian investments to Egypt, according to him.

During the visit, Szijjarto will meet with the trade and transport ministers, said Shoukry.

For his part, Szijjarto said Europe is facing growing crises and difficulties, pointing out to the current situation in eastern Europe due to illegal immigration.

This status quo requires the promotion of ties with our friends to defuse any crises, added Szijjarto.

Over the past years, Europe faced security challenges from Africa, in reference to irregular immigration, he said.

The Hungarian minister added Egypt has always been a reliable partner in handling the crisis.

Egypt has exerted strenuous efforts to stop illegal immigration from Africa towards the European continent, according to him.

We are waiting for the EU to do this as well, he said, calling for offering financial support to Egypt to back the country’s efforts in facing illegal immigration.
