Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati received Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi, as part of ongoing coordination between state institutions to attract foreign investment and strengthen cooperation in the energy sector.
The two ministers discussed mechanisms to promote investment opportunities in Egypt’s oil and gas sector and ways to diversify resources. They emphasized the importance of leveraging the Egypt Exploration and Production Gateway as a key platform to showcase opportunities in exploration and production to international companies, supporting the state’s plans to increase foreign investment and maximize the use of natural resources.
Minister Abdel-Aati highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation with regional and international partners in energy, reinforcing Egypt’s position as a regional hub for energy trade and benefiting from its infrastructure. He stressed the value of exchanging expertise with energy-producing countries in production and extraction, and of deploying modern technologies to explore and utilize resources, thereby attracting foreign investment. He affirmed that Egypt’s geographic advantages and advanced infrastructure enable strong growth in this vital sector.
For his part, Minister Badawi reviewed updates on regional energy cooperation projects, including ongoing efforts with Cyprus to link Cypriot gas fields to Egypt’s infrastructure, strengthening energy security and achieving shared economic benefits. He noted that Egypt’s liquefaction plants in Idku and Damietta are among its most strategic assets in natural gas trade, given the country’s advanced infrastructure and unique geographic location connecting East Mediterranean producers with European markets.
