Egypt’s Foreign Minister and the visiting Algerian counterpart Ahmed Attaf discussed on Thursday means of strengthening bilateral relations and reviewing regional developments.

The talks between the two ministers highlighted the strategic and historic ties between Egypt and Algeria, Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, said.

Abdel-Aati praised the growing coordination between the two countries and stressed the importance of expanding co-operation in economic, trade, and investment sectors, building on the outcomes of the ninth Joint High Committee session held last November.

The Egyptian chief diplomat commended Algeria’s development efforts under President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, including the new investment law, and expressed hope for greater Egyptian participation in Algerian projects.

The two sides also emphasised enhancing cultural exchange and cooperation in education and the arts.

Minister Attaf praised Egypt’s role in promoting regional stability and noted the alignment of views between the two countries on shared challenges.

The meeting also addressed regional files. On US–Iran talks, Abdel-Aati stressed the need for diplomatic solutions to avoid regional chaos. On Libya, both ministers underlined the importance of joint efforts to support a Libyan-led political process that ensures unity and sovereignty, while rejecting foreign interference.

On Sudan, Abdel-Aati reiterated Egypt’s call for a humanitarian truce leading to a comprehensive ceasefire and an inclusive Sudanese-owned political process, emphasising respect for Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The discussions reflected a shared determination to deepen cooperation and coordinate positions on regional and international issues, reinforcing the strategic partnership between Egypt and Algeria.
