EgyptAir Cargo has officially signed a strategic co-operation agreement with the Xinjiang Airport Group in Urumqi, China.

The signing ceremony was attended by Captain Ehab El-Tahtawy, Chairman of EgyptAir Cargo, and Tao Runwen, Chairman of the Xinjiang Airport Group, along with key leaders from both organisations.

This partnership was further supported by the presence of Rach Wang, Chairman of Oriental Sky Aviation, and Charlotte Pang, EgyptAir’s agent in China, marking a significant step in strengthening international logistics ties.

This agreement is a core part of EgyptAir’s current expansion strategy, which includes growing its fleet by converting two Airbus A330-200 passenger aircraft into dedicated freighters.

By increasing its cargo capacity, the airline aims to reach new global destinations and meet the rising demand for efficient shipping services.

The partnership sets the stage for a new era of cooperation in flight operations and logistics, designed to facilitate smoother trade and bolster economic relations between Egypt and China.

El-Tahtawy emphasised that this collaboration aims to create a stable and efficient “air corridor” connecting China to Africa.

By combining EgyptAir’s extensive global network with Urumqi’s strategic geographic location, the initiative will provide advanced logistical support that drives economic growth.

This corridor is expected to streamline the movement of goods and provide reliable supply chain solutions across the two continents.

Echoing this vision, Tao Runwen highlighted that the agreement is a vital move toward developing a logistics hub that links China with the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.

By positioning Urumqi Airport as a central gateway, the partnership intends to strengthen global supply chains and open new horizons for commercial co-operation.
