Egypt’s Minister of Culture, Jihane Zaki, delivered Egypt’s address at the 14th Islamic Co-operation Organisation (OIC) Conference of Culture Ministers, held in Kazan, in the RussianRepublic of Tatarstan, May 13–15.

Leading Egypt’s delegation, Zaki emphasised that civilisationsdo not clash by nature but complement one another when vision and will are present.

In addition, the minister highlighted Egypt’s efforts under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to redefine culture as a driver of development, stability, and social cohesion within the framework of the “New Republic.”

Egypt’s investment in culture extends beyond heritage preservation to human development, awareness building, and strengthening national identity.

Key initiatives include expanding cultural services nationwide, promoting justice in access to culture, and supporting creative industries as engines of growth, she said.

The minister urged member states to transform the concept of “Dialogue of Civilisations” into measurable policies and joint programs.

She called for expanding cultural exchanges, embedding values of dialogue and diversity in education, and leveraging digital platforms to foster cultural connectivity.

Stressing the role of youth as the true force behind sustaining dialogue, she underscored Egypt’s readiness to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cultural partnerships within and beyond the OIC framework.

This vision, she concluded, reflects Egypt’s belief that culture is not peripheral but central to sustainable development and collective resilience.
