President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi highlighted the ongoing investment cooperation between Egypt and the French shipping giant CMA CGM, one of the world’s leading container transport and maritime shipping companies.
President Sisi praised the company’s role in implementing several projects in Egypt’s seaports and dry ports.
This came as the President met on Tuesday with Chairman of CMA CGM, Rodolphe Saadé, on the sidelines of the Africa-France Summit held in Nairobi, Kenya.
The president lauded CMA CGM’s contribution to establishing and operating Egypt’s first semi-automated container terminal and the Red Sea Container Terminal at Sokhna Port.
He said that Egypt looks forward to expanding the company’s investments, particularly in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), in light of the new investment incentives introduced by the state and the significant development witnessed in Egypt’s maritime transport and infrastructure sectors.
For his part, Saadé affirmed his company’s commitment to strengthening its presence in Egypt and benefiting from the country’s strategic location and growing maritime transport and logistics capabilities.
The meeting also addressed the impact of ongoing regional tensions on global shipping routes.
President Sisi emphasised the need for greater international cooperation within the maritime shipping sector to ease bottlenecks and reduce disruptions to global trade and supply chains, particularly in the fields of energy and food security.
