Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati received MP Tarek Radwan, Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Human Rights Committee, on Sunday, in a meeting that emphasised the parliament’s vital role in shaping national legislation pertaining to human rights and public freedoms.
Abdel-Aati stressed the importance of closer consultation between the Permanent Supreme Committee for Human Rights and the parliamentary committee to monitor implementation of the National Human Rights Strategy.
He also highlighted preparations for Egypt’s second five-year plan (2026–2031), in line with directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The minister reaffirmed the Supreme Committee’s commitment to advancing a comprehensive human rights framework that promotes rights and social justice for citizens.
He reviewed Egypt’s active participation at the UN Human Rights Council, where the country holds membership for 2026–2028, and underlined the need for continued coordination with parliament to strengthen national efforts in protecting and promoting human rights.
The meeting reflected Egypt’s determination to integrate legislative, executive, and diplomatic efforts in reinforcing its human rights system and aligning with international obligations.
