Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production, General Ashraf Salem Zaher, attended a ceremony honouring a number of senior commanders who concluded their service in the Armed Forces as of January 2026.
The event was attended by Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Ahmed Khalifa, alongside commanders of the main branches, senior military officials, and the honourees’ families.
During the ceremony, Minister Zaher awarded the decorated commanders the Republic Medal, Second Class, conferred upon them by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, in recognition of their dedicated service and longstanding contributions to the military.
Speaking on behalf of the honourees, the most senior commander expressed appreciation to the Armed Forces for the care and support extended to them throughout their service, affirming that the military institution will always stand as a model of sacrifice and unwavering commitment in defence of Egypt’s security and stability.
Zaher conveyed the greetings and appreciation of President Sisi to the honoured commanders, commending their professionalism, efficiency, and exemplary performance in carrying out their duties. He highlighted that the orderly transition of leadership across generations remains a deeply rooted military tradition.
He also paid tribute to the families of the honourees for their steadfast support and their role in instilling core Egyptian values in future generations, affirming that the Armed Forces will continue to embody excellence, dedication, and sacrifice in service of the nation and the defence of its sovereignty.
