CAIRO — Zamalek SC secured a narrow 1–0 away win over Algeria’s CR Belouizdad in the first-leg of the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals on Friday night.
The Egyptian Premier League leaders took a crucial step toward the final thanks to a 28th-minute strike from Brazilian forward Juan Bezerra. However, the scorer was later forced off injured at the start of the second half, with coach Moataz Gamal making the substitution.
The Cairo giants now turn their focus to the return leg at Cairo International Stadium next Friday, where they will aim to seal qualification to the final.
