Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, reaffirmed on Wednesday the ministry’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with leading international pharmaceutical companies, particularly in support of localising advanced industries and enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of Egypt’s healthcare system.

Abdel-Ghaffar reaffirmation came as he met with Mr Stéphane Mascaraou, Executive Vice President of Servier, on the sidelines of his participation in the One Health 2026 Summit in Lyon, France, to discuss avenues for enhancing bilateral co-operation.

According to the Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar, the meeting addressed mechanisms for co-operation in both existing and future projects, as well as institutional partnerships aimed at improving the health sector and enhancing the quality of medical services provided to citizens.

Both sides emphasised the importance of leveraging Servier’s extensive expertise in the healthcare field, while facilitating the exchange of knowledge and experience across a range of medical specialisations.

The discussions also explored opportunities for establishing long-term strategic and investment partnerships to support the development of a resilient and sustainable healthcare system.

Particular emphasis was placed on localising the pharmaceutical industry in Egypt, especially in the fields of oncology and innovative therapies.

The meeting forms part of the ministry’s broader efforts to expand co-operation with major international companies, with a view to advancing pharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities and improving the overall performance of the national healthcare system, the spokesman concluded.
