The General Authority for Healthcare has announced the provision of 18.5 million medical and treatment services through its 15 secondary and tertiary healthcare facilities in Upper Egypt, specifically in Luxor and Aswan.

The move reflects the significant advancement in healthcare services delivered under the Universal Health Insurance (UHI) system, the authority said in a statement.

It added that Luxor accounted for more than 16 million services, while over 2.5 million services were delivered in Aswan, through an integrated network of hospitals catering to a wide range of medical specialties.

Authority Chairman Ahmed el-Sobky, for his part, noted that these facilities, comprising 14 hospitals and one medical complex, have introduced several advanced medical services for the first time in Upper Egypt, including TAVI procedures, EVAR and TEVAR aortic repairs, complex coronary interventions (CTO), and highly specialised surgeries across multiple disciplines.

In Luxor, services are provided through Luxor International Hospital, Karnak Hospital, Isis Hospital, the Specialised Children’s Hospital, Horus Hospital, and Taiba Hospital.

In Aswan, nine hospitals operate under the authority, including Aswan Specialised Hospital, El-Masalla Specialised Hospital, the Specialised Ophthalmology Hospital, Abu Simbel International Hospital, Aswan Oncology Centre, Daraw Central Hospital, Kom Ombo Central Hospital, El-Sebaiya Hospital, and Nile Specialised Hospital, all delivering care in line with the highest international standards.

El-Sobky affirmed that services span emergency care, critical care, inpatient and outpatient services across multiple specialties, ensuring comprehensive healthcare coverage.

He attributed this progress to highly-trained medical teams and advanced infrastructure, underscoring the authority’s success in enhancing healthcare quality and supporting the state’s goal of universal health coverage.
