Minister of Transport Kamel el-Wazir on Saturday convened an expanded meeting with heads of authorities and companies affiliated with the Ministry of Transport to follow up on the implementation of cabinet directives aimed at rationalising public expenditure.
El-Wazir said the meeting set the framework for the next phase under the slogan “minimise expenditures to the maximum and maximise revenues to the maximum,” stressing the need for immediate enforcement of government measures on energy conservation, optimal resource utilisation, and improved asset efficiency.
He stressed that these steps should support the national economy while maintaining high-quality services across all transport sectors nationwide.
During the meeting, the minister directed all affiliated entities to implement a comprehensive plan to curb spending across their operations without compromising service standards. He also underscored the importance of achieving peak operational efficiency, enhancing services for citizens, adhering to the highest safety and quality standards, and expanding revenue-generating activities.
On maritime transport, el-Wazir called for continued implementation of the sector’s comprehensive development strategy, a key pillar of Egypt Vision 2030. This includes upgrading and constructing seaports, revitalising the national commercial fleet, and strengthening partnerships with global shipping lines and operators.
He stressed that the coming period requires strong teamwork and intensified efforts to sustain the significant progress achieved across the transport sector. He also highlighted the importance of on-site leadership presence and direct engagement with employees to foster a productive work environment, boost performance, and support broader development plans and the national economy.
