Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli chaired a meeting on Tuesday to review plans for adding new and renewable energy projects to Egypt’s national electricity grid. The session was attended by Electricity Minister Mahmoud Asmat, Planning Minister Ahmed Rostom, and senior officials from the Finance Ministry.

Madbouli stressed that renewable energy is a strategic priority, noting that expanding clean power projects strengthens economic resilience, reduces reliance on traditional fuels, and supports Egypt’s ambition to become a regional hub for green energy. He directed the planning and finance ministries to secure all necessary resources to accelerate integration of new capacities into the grid.

Cabinet spokesperson Mohamed El-Homsany said discussions focused on maximizing renewable resources, ensuring energy security, and coordinating efforts among electricity, petroleum, and finance ministries. The meeting reviewed targeted additions from wind and solar power, battery storage systems, and projects under Egypt’s Energy Strategy 2030.

Officials also examined progress on renewable energy projects in areas allocated to the New and Renewable Energy Authority in the Gulf of Suez and the Red Sea. These steps aim to stabilize the national grid, meet rising demand, and optimize resources for development.
