Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli held a meeting on Monday to review the availability of strategic goods. The session included the Ministers of Supply and Agriculture, along with senior officials from the General Authority for Supply Commodities.
Madbouli stressed that the government’s priority is to maintain safe reserves of essential goods for long periods. He said this ensures market stability and price balance, especially amid current regional challenges. He directed expansion of outlets and chains to keep prices fair and prevent unjustified increases.
The Prime Minister confirmed readiness to provide new sites in governorates and new cities for these outlets. He emphasized that securing supplies and easing burdens on citizens remain top priorities.
Supply Minister Sherif Farouk reported that stocks of wheat, rice, sugar, oil, pasta, and meat are at reassuring levels. He said proactive plans created a strong buffer against global supply chain pressures.
Agriculture Minister Alaa Farouk highlighted efforts to expand cultivated areas, use high-yield seeds, and apply contract farming to secure oil and sugar crops. He noted the ministry’s growing network of outlets offering products at reduced prices.
Madbouli concluded by announcing new refrigerated trucks will be deployed to distribute goods across cities, ensuring quality and fair prices.
