Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare, Ahmed el-Sobky, has affirmed that Egypt is experiencing a significant qualitative advancement in its medical tourism sector, driven by continuous improvements in healthcare services and the ongoing enhancement of the quality of care delivered across the authority’s facilities.

He noted that these developments are strengthening the confidence of international patients and reinforcing Egypt’s growing position on the global medical tourism map.

He explained that the authority has achieved revenues of approximately $8 million, while also providing medical and therapeutic services to around 35,000 medical tourists representing 124 countries.

This, he said, reflects the wide geographic diversity of beneficiaries and the expanding international reach of the authority’s healthcare services.

El-Sobky highlighted that 2025 recorded a remarkable surge in medical tourism revenues, which increased by 76.67 per cent compared to 2024, when revenues stood at approximately $3.7 million.

He described these results as a strong indicator of sustained momentum and a solid foundation for more ambitious growth in the next phase.

He further noted that the authority’s strategic vision is centred on positioning Egypt as a trusted global destination for medical tourism under the brand “In Egypt We Care”, through a proactive approach to attracting international patients, developing advanced treatment packages in line with the highest global standards, and establishing an integrated smart digital system to manage the full patient journey.

El-Sobky added that the coming period will witness the expansion of strategic partnerships with private insurance companies and insurance brokerage firms, a step expected to attract greater numbers of international patients, maximise economic returns, and further enhance Egypt’s competitiveness as a leading regional and international hub for medical tourism.
