Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Expatriates, Badr Abdel-Aati, stressed the urgent need to de-escalate regional tensions and uphold respect for state sovereignty and international law as essential pillars for restoring security and stability across the region.

Minister Abdel Aati’s remarks came during a phone call on Tuesday with Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi. The two ministers reviewed the rapidly evolving regional developments and the ongoing diplomatic efforts to contain escalation.

Abdel-Aati reaffirmed Egypt’s condemnation of Iranian attacks targeting Jordan and Gulf Arab states, underscoring full solidarity in safeguarding Arab national security. Both ministers emphasised the importance of intensifying joint Arab coordination to address shared political and economic challenges.

The Egyptian foreign minister said that respect for international law, non-interference in internal affairs, and the preservation of state sovereignty remain fundamental to securing a stable future for the region. The two sides agreed on the necessity of halting all violations that undermine regional stability.

The phone discussions also covered preparations for the upcoming session of the Arab League Council at the level of foreign ministers later this month. Abdel-Aati and Safadi underscored the meeting’s significance in forging a unified Arab action capable of addressing mounting regional threats and ongoing escalation.

On Lebanon, the two ministers reaffirmed their support for the country’s security, stability, and full sovereignty over its territory, as well as backing the Lebanese government’s efforts to place all arms under the exclusive state authority. They also condemned Israeli attacks on Lebanon and its expansionist policies in the region.

Abdel-Aati further stressed that growing international focus on tensions with Iran must not overshadow efforts to end the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Both ministers called for an immediate halt to illegal Israeli measures in the West Bank that undermine prospects for a just and lasting peace.

They also condemned Israeli settler violence against Palestinians as a grave violation of international law and a dangerous escalation requiring a firm international response. The two ministers further denounced continued restrictions on freedom of worship for Muslims and Christians in the occupied Palestinian territories, including limitations on access to holy sites.
