Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati spoke by phone with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Monday.The call came as part of ongoing consultations between the two countries on fast‑moving developments in the region and efforts to reduce escalation.
Abdel-Aati stressed the need for regional and international efforts to lower tensions and rely on diplomacy. He warned that continued violence could threaten peace and security both regionally and globally. He called for stronger coordination to contain the situation and prevent the Middle East from sliding into chaos.
The two ministers also discussed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Abdel-Aati underlined Egypt’s support for the Palestinian cause and the importance of enabling the national committee to manage Gaza as a step toward empowering the Palestinian Authority to assume full responsibilities in Gaza and the West Bank. He highlighted the need to support early recovery, reconstruction, and humanitarian relief in the strip.
The call also touched on the war in Ukraine. Abdel-Aati reaffirmed Egypt’s consistent position that political efforts must continue to reach a peaceful settlement through dialogue and diplomacy, in order to safeguard regional and international stability.
