Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call on Monday from Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who extended congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr and wished prosperity for the Egyptian people.

President Sisi returned the greetings, and voiced hopes for peace and blessings for both nations, as well as the Muslim World at large.

According to Presidency Spokesperson Mohamed El-Shennawy, the two leaders also addressed developments in the Middle East region.

President Sisi reviewed Egypt’s efforts aiming to contain ongoing regional escalation and curb the economic and security repercussions.

Sisi also reaffirmed Egypt’s support for the security and sovereignty of fellow Arab countries, as well as utter rejection of whatever attempts to undermine their stability or violate their sovereignty, under any pretext.

For his part, President Subianto commended Egypt’s role in promoting regional stability and reducing tensions, emphasising the importance of continued coordination to support peace at both the regional and international levels.

The two leaders also discussed bilateral relations, highlighting the strong historical and strategic ties between Egypt and Indonesia and affirming their commitment to further strengthening co-operation across various fields.
