Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati met on Sunday with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha.

The visit marked the start of a regional tour directed by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to reaffirm Egypt’s full support for Gulf states amid repeated Iranian attacks.

Abdel-Aati conveyed the President’s greetings and a message of solidarity, stressing Egypt’s commitment to stand with Qatar during this critical time. He praised the deep historical and fraternal ties between the two nations.

Emir Tamim highly appreciated Egypt’s principled positions and steadfast support. He highlighted Cairo’s pivotal role in defending Arab national security and maintaining regional stability.

Abdel-Aari condemned Iran’s assaults on Qatar’s sovereignty and security, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khalaf said.

The Egyptian chief diplomat rejected any justification for such violations, terming them ‘blatant breaches of international law and the UN Charter’.

He also emphasised that the security of Qatar and the Gulf is inseparable from Egypt’s and the wider Arab world’s security.

The talks reviewed the dangerous military escalation in the region. Both sides stressed the urgent need to deescalate, end the war, and prioritise diplomacy and dialogue to prevent wider conflict.

Abdel-Aati underlined that military solutions are ineffective and warned against regional chaos. He called for stronger Arab cooperation, activation of the joint defense treaty, and reinforcement of collective security mechanisms to safeguard sovereignty and stability.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue close coordination between Cairo and Doha as part of wider Arab efforts to restore peace and protect regional security.
