Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli stressed the urgent need for restraint amid rising regional tensions. Speaking during Wednesday’s weekly Cabinet meeting, he warned of the economic consequences of the current escalation in the Middle East and its implications for Egypt.

Madbouli reaffirmed Egypt’s position that all parties must prioritize dialogue and diplomatic solutions to de-escalate the situation. He said Egypt will continue working with relevant countries and stakeholders to contain the crisis peacefully, safeguarding regional stability and resources.

The Prime Minister highlighted the global economic impact, including risks to energy security, supply chains, international trade, and citizens’ livelihoods. He pointed to the establishment of a Central Crisis Management Committee tasked with monitoring developments, particularly US–Israeli operations in Iran, and assessing their effects on Egypt and the wider region.

Madbouli noted that the committee has reviewed government-prepared scenarios to address potential market impacts, approving measures to rationalize public spending and consumption. He emphasized round-the-clock monitoring to ensure the stability of food supplies, essential goods, and petroleum products.

He also called for stricter market oversight to prevent price manipulation or monopolistic practices, warning that violators would be referred to military prosecution for decisive action.
