Minister of Labour Hassan Radad received a delegation of the Ready-Made Garments Export Council at the ministry headquarters in the New Administrative Capital on Tuesday, reflecting the ministry’s commitment to understanding the challenges facing this strategic industrial sector and supporting measures to enhance production and increase exports.

During the meeting, the council presented the main challenges affecting the ready-made garment industry, particularly concerning the work environment, including leave entitlements, minimum wage, working hours, and work permits for foreign workers.

In response, Minister Radad directed the launch of executive procedures to issue temporary work permits for select foreign nationals needed by companies in specific fields.

These permits will be valid for six months and will be accessible through all labour directorates across governorates, in coordination with the Central Administration for Foreign Work Permits, expediting procedures while completing all required approvals.

Minister Radad highlighted that, under the directives of the political leadership, the Egyptian state is committed to facilitating investment, supporting productive sectors, and removing obstacles to business growth.

He stressed that the new labour law, developed through extensive stakeholder dialogue, aims to strengthen labour relations and create a balanced work environment that benefits both employers and employees, thereby promoting investment, national economic growth, production, and exports.

Both sides emphasised the importance of ongoing coordination between relevant authorities and the Export Council, as well as developing training systems and raising workforce efficiency in line with global production standards, ultimately enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian products in international markets.
