Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Hussein Eissa, held separate meetings at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital with German Ambassador to Cairo Jürgen Schulz and Indian Ambassador Suresh K. Reddy to discuss ways to strengthen economic and development co-operation between Egypt and both countries.

During his meeting with Ambassador Schulz, Eissa highlighted Egypt’s appreciation for its long-standing development partnership with Germany, describing it as one of Egypt’s largest European development partners.

He noted that the current co-operation portfolio covers key sectors including energy, water, sanitation, irrigation, solid waste management, and enhancing private sector competitiveness.

Eissa also reviewed the “Invest for Jobs” initiative implemented by KfW Development Bank, which provides grants to support investment projects selected based on their ability to create job opportunities.

The initiative targets several sectors, including construction and related industries, metal and electrical industries, education and social services, food industries, transport and logistics, information technology, and hospitality.

He also referred to the Egyptian-German debt swap programme, which supports green transformation projects, noting that additional phases could be launched to support energy efficiency in the industrial sector, green hydrogen projects, and technical education.

In a separate meeting with the Indian ambassador, Eissa highlighted the strong historical ties between Egypt and India and the steady growth in economic, trade, and investment relations.

He also reviewed the government’s programme to restructure economic authorities and state-owned companies, as well as the ongoing state asset offering programme aimed at attracting more local and foreign investments.

The meeting also discussed expanding co-operation in innovation, technology, digital transformation, and startups, as well as strengthening capacity-building programmes and training opportunities for Egyptian professionals.
