Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit said that attacks on Arab countries cannot be justified by any argument or excused under any pretext.
Speaking at an emergency meeting of the Arab League on Sunday, Aboul Gheit said the attacks reflect a “reckless policy” that undermines the principles of good neighbourly relations.
He stressed that Arab states are not a party to the ongoing war and did not seek its outbreak, adding that Arab countries reject the use of their territories or airspace as launching points for military operations, according to Al Qahera News channel.
Aboul Gheit said the “unjustified” attacks indicate serious miscalculation and risk increasing Iran’s isolation at a critical moment. He urged Iran to reassess its policy and correct what he described as a strategic error in targeting Arab countries.
He also called on the UN Security Council to take all possible steps to stop Iranian attacks on Arab territory.
