Egypt’s Cabinet has given the green light to the Egyptian Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority to contract with X-Calibur for conducting a comprehensive airborne geophysical survey covering the entire Egyptian territory, according to a press release by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources on Thursday.

The survey will be carried out across six geographic regions using the latest global technologies in airborne geophysical exploration, the statement added.

The ministry stated that the survey operations, to be implemented by X-Calibur, will utilise the company’s advanced aircraft and modern technologies.

The project will also involve co-operation and integration with national specialised institutions, most notably the Nuclear Materials Authority, benefiting from its accumulated scientific and technical expertise to enhance the accuracy of results and improve the project’s technical outputs.

Nuclear Materials Authority’s aircraft will participate in the survey alongside the company’s aircraft, in co-operation with Drone Tech, reflecting efforts to maximise the use of national assets, while supporting the localisation of expertise in national projects.

The ministry noted that the transformation of the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority into an economic entity—under directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi—has provided greater flexibility to attract investments for the development of Egypt’s mineral wealth. It also paved the way for launching the country’s first airborne survey project in more than four decades.

The project offers a major strategic national initiative aimed at identifying promising mineral-rich areas and establishing a high-precision geophysical database to update Egypt’s geological map and support investment opportunities.
