CAIRO – Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli asserted the importance of projects aimed at turning waste into electricity nationwide.

 

The premier said it is necessary to rally up efforts to carry out these important projects.

Madbouli’s remarks came at a meeting, held to follow up the implementation of the programme to convert waste into energy in the governorates of phase one on Monday.

 

Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait, Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawy and Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad were present.

 

Madbouli said the government is doing its utmost in this vital file, adding the waste-to-energy programme aims to create a healthy and clean environment, in addition to achieving economic revenues and producing electricity.

 

During the meeting, Fouad reviewed advantages and benefits of the waste-to-energy programme, which calls for decreasing the wastes buried in sanitary landfills, in addition to the closure of random landfills and removal of daily waste, along with providing of plots of land to establish more landfills.
