Egypt and France discussed the latest developments on joint transport projects.

Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir had a meeting with French Ambassador to Egypt Eric Chevallier and head of the French Ministry of Economy and Finance’s Bilateral Affairs and International Business Department Magali Cesana.

El-Wazir praised te strong relations between Egypt and France and the successful cooperation on major transport projects, stressing the importance of expanding collaboration in vocational training and human capacity building to support the operation and maintenance of modern transport systems, including metro, light rail, and railway networks.

The talks reviewed progress on localizing railway and electric traction industries through cooperation with France, including the establishment of a major industrial complex in Borg El-Arab to manufacture railway components.

Discussions also covered developments related to Cairo Metro Line 6, which will run from El-Khosous to New Maadi, with future extensions to New Cairo, connecting with the high-speed rail and East Nile monorail. Both sides agreed to intensify coordination to accelerate implementation according to the agreed timetable.

The French side reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation with Egypt in transport, railway development, and vocational training, highlighting France’s interest in expanding the presence of French companies in the Egyptian market and supporting the localization of railway industries.
