In alignment with Egypt’s strategic commitment to fostering deeper partnerships across the African continent, a high-level delegation from EgyptAir Maintenance and Engineering recently conducted an official visit to Malabo.
This visit, following an invitation from the Equatorial Guinean Minister of Civil Aviation and Infrastructure, was designed to explore comprehensive avenues for cooperation within various civil aviation sectors.
The initiative underscores a broader vision to bridge regional gaps and leverage Egypt’s extensive technical expertise for the benefit of its neighbors.

Chairman and Managing Director of EgyptAir Holding Company Pilot Ahmed Adel emphasised that this mission is a core component of the company’s expansion strategy within Africa.
By sharing Egypt’s long-standing aviation heritage, the holding company aims to establish robust logistical and technical hubs.
These centers are expected to not only modernize the aviation landscape in Equatorial Guinea but also serve as vital links connecting Cairo with Central and West Africa, ultimately driving an increase in commercial, tourism, and cultural exchange.

During the visit, Engineer Ibrahim Fathi, Chairman of EgyptAir Maintenance and Engineering, detailed the Guinean side’s specific interest in adopting Egyptian standards for hangar management and human resource development.

Collaborative efforts are currently underway to draft memoranda of understanding and a comprehensive action plan. This roadmap includes the management of aircraft maintenance hangars in the new capital, Mongomeyen, and providing specialized technical and training support for both the national carrier, Ceiba, and the presidential fleet, ensuring adherence to the highest international safety and quality protocols.

The delegation’s agenda also included a review of critical infrastructure and the discussion of several vital proposals, such as the operation of a flight school at Mongomeyen International Airport and the potential inauguration of a direct flight route between Cairo and Malabo.
The visit, which received significant local media and official attention, concluded with an inspection of amazing facilities capable of servicing wide-body aircraft.
