Egyptian Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk welcomed the launch of the Egyptian export and business council in northern Germany, saying that such initiatives encourage increased exports of Egyptian agricultural produce to Europe in general and Germany in particular.
Farouk asserted that young exporters will lead efforts to open new markets for Egyptian agricultural products and expand existing ones.
He highlighted the ministry’s efforts to back a new generation of Egyptian exporters equipped with modern tools in key areas, such as digitalization, promotion, marketing, packaging and production.
He made the remarks during his participation in Fruit Logistica exhibition in Germany, where he attended the council’s inauguration ceremony organized by the Egyptian consulate general in Hamburg.
The event was attended by Egyptian Ambassador to Germany Mohamed el Badry and Egyptian Consul General in Hamburg Dalia Abdel Fattah.
Ambassador Badry said that the initiative builds upon the foundations laid by generations of prominent Egyptian exporters active in the German and European markets and will contribute to Egypt’s goal of doubling agricultural exports to Germany.
Meanwhile, Egyptian Consul General in Hamburg Dalia Abdel Fattah described the council as a non-profit entity representing Egyptian importers in northern Germany, aiming to support and develop Egyptian exports and business activities in abroad.
She explained that the council will act as a coordinating umbrella for Egyptian agricultural exporters, promoting their products, addressing logistical and technical challenges in coordination with relevant authorities in Egypt and Germany.
She added that the council will keep in touch with the Egyptian Consulate in Hamburg, the diplomatic mission and the Commercial Office in Berlin.
