Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli asserted his commitment to closely follow up the “Rawdat Al Sayyida 2” alternative housing project in the Tayebi area of Sayyida Zeinab.

The project is a cornerstone of Egypt’s urban development agenda, aimed at redeveloping unsafe neighborhoods and improving the quality of life for residents, in line with directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

Madbouli made these remarks during a site inspection of the “Rawdat Al Sayyida 2” project at the start of his tour to review the progress of several historic Cairo revitalization initiatives.

Chairman of the Urban Development Fund (UDF) Khaled Seddik highlighted that “Rawdat Al Sayyida 2” follows the success of the “Rawdat Al Sayyida 1” project, which transformed the area into a modern, well-planned community.

Al Tayebi neighborhood, listed on the national map of unsafe areas, was cleared through coordinated efforts between Cairo governorate and the UDF.

Seddik noted that 200 families from the demolished Tayebi area were relocated to “Rawdat Al Sayyida 1,” while rental compensation was provided to the remaining residents until the new project’s completion.

“Rawdat Al-Sayyida 2” is expected to accommodate 386 families in alternative housing. Coordination is underway with the Cairo Governorate to organize a lottery system for returning residents to allocate units once construction is fully complete, he said.

Seddik presented plans for the project’s third phase “Rawdat Al Sayyida 3” and the PM directed authorities to expedite procedures, negotiate with current residents and ensure proper compensation.

The project spans more than 7 feddans and includes 572 residential units, 6 administrative units, and 30 commercial units, with construction progress reaching approximately 98%.
