CAIRO – Defence Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces General Mohamed Abdel Meguid Saqr attended the main phase of a tactical live-fire exercise carried out by a unit of the Western Military Region.
Armed Forces Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, several governors, senior military commanders, students from military colleges and institutes, media representatives, public figures, and tribal leaders from Matrouh and Siwa as well as students from Matrouh University attended the exercise.
Commander of the Western Military Region Hatem Mostafa Zahran, stressed, in remarks during the event, that the forces of the western region are committed to achieving the highest levels of efficiency and combat readiness to carry out all missions required to safeguard the nation’s security, regardless of the sacrifices involved.
The main stage included conducting combat operations to breach the enemy’s forward defenses, supported by air force reconnaissance, security and strike missions, as well as air-defense cover. Artillery units provided fire support to destroy reserves and disrupt enemy command-and-control centers.
At the conclusion of the exercise, the defense minister conveyed President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s regards and appreciation to the participating troops, praising their high combat readiness and professional performance.
He said the Armed Forces, equipped with advanced systems, weapons and capabilities, remain fully able to protect the country across all strategic directions.
He added that the exercise demonstrates the army’s constant state of preparedness and sends a message of reassurance to the Egyptian people.
Chief of Staff Ahmed Khalifa had earlier witnessed one of the stages of the exercise, which included the execution of a planned training task, and held discussions with commanders and officers to assess their decision-making during operations.
