Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriate Affairs Badr Abdelatty had a phone call on Saturday with Palestinian Vice President Hussein Al Sheikh, as part of ongoing coordination and consultations between the two sides regarding developments in Palestine and efforts to consolidate and implement the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Agreement.

Spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tamim Khallaf said that the call addressed ongoing consultations on the draft resolution before the UN Security Council (UNSC) concerning developments in Gaza and related security arrangements.

Both sides stressed the importance of ensuring that the resolution contributes to consolidating an end to the war and creating the conditions necessary for achieving a just and comprehensive peace that meets the aspirations of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state.

Abdelatty pointed out to the statement issued on Friday expressing Egypt’s support for adopting the proposed Security Council resolution.

He also highlighted the growing regional and international consensus to proceed with implementing the plan announced during the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit, which offers a practical roadmap toward Palestinian self-determination and the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Khallaf added that Abdelatty discussed with Sheikh the ongoing preparations for the International Conference on Early Recovery and Reconstruction of Gaza, stressing the need to mobilize regional and international support to ensure effective implementation of the early recovery and reconstruction plan.

Both sides agreed to maintain close consultation and coordination in the coming period in support of the Palestinian people and efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace.
