The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has been awarded the Certified Government Innovative Organisation (CGInO) certificate with a five-star rating from the Global Innovation Institute (GInI), the world’s highest institutional accreditation in innovation management, according to a press statement posted on the Cabinet official Facebook page on Thursady.

This recognition makes Egypt the first higher education and research authority globally to receive this certificate.

Minister Ayman Ashour described the certification as a testament to the ministry’s institutional success in embedding innovation as a core pillar of sustainable development. He stressed that this global recognition marks “not an endpoint, but the beginning of a deeper phase of transformation” towards a knowledge-driven and creative model that empowers universities and research centres to generate and apply knowledge in addressing national challenges.

The achievement crowns the implementation of Egypt’s National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Policy for Sustainable Innovation 2025.

Ashour highlighted key initiatives underpinning this success, including the expansion of partnerships with the private sector, and overall programmes to strengthen innovation ecosystems across academia.
